The Company:

Vardey Recruitment is working exclusively with a vibrant, rapidly expanding retail company based in Poole, Dorset. We are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join the team, working alongside the Financial Director. You will work in a small team helping with the running of the busy accounts department, taking responsibility for the month end close.

Key duties:

The Assistant Accountant will work in a varied role, supporting the FD with the management and financial account preparation. You will undertake balance sheet reconciliations and P&L review as well as overseeing and supporting in the ledgers.  A key part of the role is to reconcile the bank accounts on a daily basis in (multi-currencies) as well as processing receipts and preparing VAT returns.  You will supervise and mentor the Accounts Assistant and support them in their role helping with staff expenses, petty cash and payroll duties. The Assistant Accountant will prepare the cash flow forecast together with journals, accruals and prepayments. You will work together to close the month end and support the Financial Director in ad hoc project work to ensure the smooth running of the department.

The role will suit:

An experienced Assistant Accountant/Accounts Assistant who enjoys improving processes and streamlining procedures.  You will be able to pay great attention to detail and have experience in reconciliation work and be keen to trouble shoot and solve problems.  This role may interest an Accounts Assistant looking for progression to Assistant Accountant or an experienced Assistant Accountant (AAT Studier or AAT qualified). You will be highly organised, be able to work to tight deadlines and have previously worked within a small company environment.
