Vardey Recruitment delighted to be supporting a well-established business in the Dorchester area in Dorset.  The company are a growing and forward-thinking manufacturing company who have an opening for a Project/Management Accountant to join the team.

The role 

Working closely with the Financial Controller your job as the Project/Management Accountant will be to take ownership for all project finances. You will monitor, conduct and report on all financial aspects relating to the project portfolio.  You will deliver accurate financial performance and analysis to include insights to inform revenue and resource planning, as well as supporting new business quotations by analysis and reporting of historical financial data.  As the Project Accountant you will provide a financial reporting and management service on all live projects working closely with the project managers and acquiring an in depth understanding of each project’s cost, scope, spend and main milestones.  This job is to also support the Financial Controller with data to support company level monthly reporting to include month-end reports and sales forecasts.  You will review and forecast project manning requirements versus available capacity to support job planning.  A key part of the job is to monitor contracts for each payment due ensuring contract invoice terms are adhered to as well as raising customer invoices and liaise with payment teams.  As the Project/Management Accountant you will conduct analysis of hours worked as well as future hours required and materials utilised. In addition, part of the role will involve bid support, here you will provide historical project finance data to support the estimating process for new business, conduct financial review and sign off for bid and contract reviews.  Finally, this varied and busy role will assist in establishing finance budgets and work with other departments to support wider bid activities. 

Ideal candidate

Ideally an active studier ACCA/ACA/CIMA or someone qualified by experience. A strong financial and management accounting background is required and if possible experience in project accounting.  A strong Excel user with good exposure to systems improvement would be preferable ideally with the ability to implement change where required.
