Semi Senior Clerk/ Practice Accountant

The Company

Vardey Recruitment are delighted to be working with an established, expanding and forward-thinking Accountancy Practice in Somerset who are looking for a Part-Qualified Accountant to join the growing team. They provide a wide range of accounting, tax and business services to a variety of clients, whether they are private individuals, entrepreneurs, investors, families, partnerships or corporate clients. They offer a hands-on advisory service, therefore you will benefit from direct client contact and the chance to make a real contribution to the company’s affairs. You will gain more varied exposure than some other firms!

Your role

From your first day, you will be exposed to a broad range of clients and companies, whilst working within this independent firm. Working in a close-knit team, your role will be to review and update the accounts prepared by the client or bookkeeping team, prepare lead schedules and working papers and draft accounts.  You will prepare year- end adjustments, as well as corporate, partnership and personal tax calculations. You will send final accounts to clients or managers as well as gain exposure to M&A activity, corporate finance and supporting businesses with exit plans working closely with the partner.

The ideal candidate

The role will suit an active studier/ part qualified ACCA, ACA/CA/AAT or equivalent or an accountancy graduate. If you are qualified by experience and with practice experience we would still be keen to hear from you, as well as someone in industry looking to return to practice. You will have experience in general accountancy and tax ideally from a practice environment. Have a genuine interest in adding value to clients and developing business relationships. You will be an excellent communicator and have strong IT skills, be a strong team player as well as a pro-active person who is able to work on your own initiative.  You will have strong analytical skills and be able to solve problems. If you have a specialist area in accountancy and wish to continue with this we would like to hear from you for example Bookkeeping, Payroll or Tax/VAT etc.
