Vardey Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a dynamic and entrepreneurial business located near to Bournemouth Airport in Dorset.  We are recruiting for an ambitious senior accounts assistant who can support the Finance Manager with the running of the accounts department. This is a fantastic opportunity to progress your accountancy skills whilst working in a supportive and ambitious environment that is also forward thinking.  As the Senior Accounts Assistant after training, the job will develop and you will gain experience and start preparing the accounts for one of the groups companies and be the first point of contact, adding value as a finance business partner. Longer-term there is scope to progress your career to Finance Manager level. This role is office based but can offer flexible working hours and or days across either 4 or 5 days per week.

The job role
  • The job as Accounts Assistant is varied and busy and involves a variety of accountancy tasks!
  • Control of the sales ledger to include reconciliation of sales reports
  • Control of the purchase ledger, process purchase invoices, dealing with suppliers, reconcile statements, prepare payment runs
  • Management of employee expenses
  • Reconciliation of multiple bank accounts
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns 
  • Journals, prepayments and accruals
  • Working closely with the Finance Manager to close month end and perform investigations into any anomalies
  • Cashflow reporting
  • Assisting with Payroll
  • A key element will be to performance balance sheet reconciliation together with supporting the month end reconciliations.
  • You will gain exposure and experience in helping with the management accounts preparing and supporting with budgets and forecasting to help develop and expand your accountancy skills
  • After training there is scope to take full ownership of one of the group companies from start to finish preparing a full set of accounts
  • Supporting the Finance Manager to aid decision making influencing the business and help drive the organisation forward.

The ideal candidate
  • Good all round accountancy skills 
  • AAT studier/AAT Qualified or Part-qualified accountant actively studying ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience
  • Good Excel
  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Able to prioritise work
  • Able to work as a team
  • Keen to bring ideas to the table and improve processes ensure efficiencies
